Via Ferrata and Rock Climbing in Telluride

Via Ferrata in Telluride

Reach for the Rung

What was once an activity primarily enjoyed by locals has now exploded into a must-do for many visitors enjoying a summer vacation in Telluride. Not for the faint of heart or those afraid of heights, climbing the Via Ferrata absolutely packs a punch full of adrenaline for those willing to cross a sheer rock face 300 feet above the ground.

The name means "Iron Road" in Italian and consists of a series of metal rungs adhered to the mountain with a thin wire. Climbers buckle into a harness and utilize lanyards and carabiners to move across the mountain clipped into the wire. The main event is an outcropping where photos are frequently taken with Bridal Veil Falls peaking out in the far distance. Unique to Telluride, this activity will give you instant street cred when you post pictures on Instagram or share your story with friends back home.
