One of the classic things you might see in the winter is someone biking down Main Street with a pair of skis on their shoulders! Now, biking on the snow is easier than ever with Fat Tire Bikes. The tires are nearly 5″ wide, and tours and rentals are offered by Bootdoctors Rentals & Outdoor Gear.

Ice climbing is an exhilarating experience not to be missed. The Telluride area has lots of opportunities to explore ice climbing in some of the region’s most beautiful settings. We recommend going with a guide, and San Juan Outdoor Adventures have some of the best.
Need a break from skiing? Gather the family and head to one of three ice skating rinks! In the Mountain Village core you can rent skates and pirouette around the ice and then take a candy break at Dylan’s Candy Bar. If you happen to be in town there are two choices, the Hanley Rink, is a fully enclosed, refrigerated NHL size hockey rink. The rink is available daily for free skate in between hockey practice and figure skating classes. The Outdoor Ice Rink is a natural, non-refrigerated rink next to the warming hut and bathrooms. Warming Hut hours are: Monday-Sunday 9AM-9PM. Rentals are available from the Telluride Nordic Center between the indoor and outdoor rinks.
In town there are two trails you can take for Nordic Skiing. The Town Park loop and the Valley Floor Trail. The trail in Town Park is 3 km of beautifully groomed trail that’s the perfect place for a quick workout or lessons. On the Valley Floor there are a few different trail options, allowing access to snowshoeing, Nordic Skiing, hiking, and biking. Please pay attention to trail signs! Stop by the Telluride Nordic Center in town park to learn about all the Nordic offerings the area.
